If you are a parent, one thing you cannot do away with is toys for your little one. With technology hooking kids to mobile screens, toys that are innovative and educational has become imperative. As public awareness of the environmental issues caused by plastic has continued to grow, I’ve begun to get even more uncomfortable with the huge amount of plastic invading our home, most noticeably in the form of my child’s toys. And what if we tell you that there is an eco-friendly alternative to plastic toys that you grew up with? Yes, you heard it right. At Plumtales by Kuhu Enterprises, we manufacture amigurumi toys that are eco-friendly and free from toxic wastes.

(Amigurumi is a technique used to make small stuffed toys out of crocheting or knitting and the word ‘Amigurumi’ is a Japanese term, based on a traditional old Japanese art.)

While handmade toys for younger children aren't the easiest to find, but handmade amigurumi toys by Plumtales are making a hit. Safe and chemical free these handmade amigurumi toys are the future of sustainable playmates for your kids. Amigurumi toys do not contain BPA, phthalates or heavy metals such as lead and mercury which can be found in varying amounts in plastic toys. These toxins have been linked to cancers, obesity, lower IQ and behavioral problems to name just a few!

Our goal is to eliminate plastic waste and to empower artisan moms, the makers of these incredible amigurumi toys. We are proud to provide jobs with sustainable, fair trade wages to women in suburb villages of Panchkula, Haryana and Indo-Pak border areas of Punjab. By purchasing our amigurumi toys, you are not only bringing happiness to your kids, but supporting a lot of these artisans' families too. Every purchase you made empowers rural women to take control of their careers, their families, and their lives.

We believe that, as children grow and develop, they need good quality products that are beautifully designed and safe to play with. Our products are inspired by colors of nature and the world of animals. They provide hours of fun and happiness to the young ones in the family. WHAT WE ARE DOING?

We believe in the power of business to help make the world a better place. The goal of Kuhu Enterprises is to uplift the community, by providing opportunity to all untapped women resources, who are not well-educated or have limitation of working outside, but are incredible as crochet artist. Empowering them by imparting crochet training, giving tools and quality raw material to be able to make marketable products locally in the rural area. We are working hard to ensure regular employment and sustainable livelihood for women from rural areas.

THE IMPACT

Every purchase you made empowers rural women to take control of their careers, their families, and their lives.

It’s not about the toy you can gift but the opportunity of employment you are providing, not about filling someone else’s closet out of obligation but inviting them into the experience of introducing others -maybe for the first time- to the idea that there are human beings behind the toys/goodies they buy. Helping others makes you feel good about yourself because you are doing something for someone that they couldn’t do for themselves.

Shop & tell others about it!
